So PROUD. This is our 50th BLOG!

As at 12/2/2021 we have had 40495 visits

As at 22/11/20 we have had 36363 visits

As at 08/11/17 we have over 20000 visits

Also take a look at Blog 40

As at 11/8/13: We have now had 2297 different visitors to our site since we started from 59 different countries.

Which just goes to show that the world is fascinated by Motorhomes, RVs & Campervans.

Recently our soon to be daughter-in-laws parents visited from China and were fascinated by our van. In China there is hardly any concept of camping let alone people living in a motorised vehicle.

We are amazed by some of the countries that have shown interest . Places you just wouldn't think they would be interested such as KENYA, LEBANON, CHILE to name but a few.

Still we know exactly why they are interested don't we, have your say via the comments, you just need to be logged in which is easy.

Found these lovely signs provided by 'friends of motorhome-travels' so thought it would be nice to share them. Do you have any amusing sign pictures you may have taken on your RV / Motorhome travels that you could share with our readers? Dig them out, please.

Also how about these "Campers" Comments

They are actual comments left on U. S. Forest Service registration sheets and comment cards by backpackers completing wilderness camping trips:

•“A small deer came into my camp and stole my bag of pickles. Is there a way I can get reimbursed? Please call.”

•“Escalators would help on steep uphill sections.”

•“Instead of a permit system or regulations, the Forest Service needs to reduce worldwide population growth to limit the number of visitors to wilderness.”

•“Trails need to be wider so people can walk while holding hands.”

•“Ban walking sticks in wilderness. Hikers that use walking sticks are more likely to chase animals.”

•“All the mile markers are missing this year.”

•“Found a smoldering cigarette left by a horse.”

•“Trails need to be reconstructed. Please avoid building trails that go uphill.”

•“Too many bugs and leeches and spiders and spider webs. Please spray the wilderness to rid the area of these pests.”

•“Please pave the trails so they can be plowed of snow in the winter.”

•“Chair lifts need to be in some places so that we can get to wonderful views without having to hike to them.”

•“The coyotes made too much noise last night and kept me awake. Please eradicate these annoying animals.”

•“Reflectors need to be placed on trees every 50 feet so people can hike at night with flashlights.”

•“Need more signs to keep area pristine.”

•“A McDonald’s would be nice at the trail head.”

•“The places where trails do not exist are not well marked.”

•“Too many rocks in the mountains.”

Haha....

Have your say ....PLEASE *smile*

Here are some examples of early motorhomes we like. Its interesting how man & womans' desire to get away from having to be under canvas has developed.

Love the progression from bikes to old van conversions, plus the upgrades to some of the more expensive variety of vehicle.

Do you have any old examples you would like to share. Then post your comments and links below, let us all have a look. Maybe here at Motorhome-travels we will choose the best / most amusing and give it an award.

Whilst at the recent "small business sunday" #sbs awards event hosted by BBC's Dragons Den stalwart Theo Paphitis because Annie's biz had won back in June 2011 we came across Loving Outdoors who had also been commended by Theo plus tales of their interesting GUV van. Here's an extract from them

" Award winning online outdoor retailer Loving Outdoors are heading to the hills and beyond in their distinctive new motor home. Clad in Astroturf, ‘The GUV’ or ‘Grassed Up Van’ as fans have dubbed it, will take the Loving Outdoors team to outdoor events, festivals and popular walking routes across the country where they’ll be on hand with expert outdoor advice, drinks and snacks, fun activities and plenty of chat."

So why not find out more about it and where you can see it. Nice people *smile*

What do you think of it? as a concept? and as a talking point? Have your say here, just leave a coment to get the discussion flowing. I'm sure many folk will have views. We certainly lean towards the 'green' as they say.

PS We've included an alternative pic of a 'green' van , lol!

Came across this wonderful little gadget . It shows the level of gas in a cylinder. Safe, reusable and accurate. Attaches to bottle using magnetic strip.

We have one and its been so much better than memory or turning on the cooker ring and finding it has 'stopped'.

Here is a place we got one from but there will be others on eBay. Take a look

2016 Update: Many of the modern light weight bottles now have a red / green indicator on the top, may be worth using as well assuming you can get to see it

A motorhome is a type of self-propelled recreational vehicle or RV which offers living accommodation combined with a vehicle engine. The term motorhome is most commonly used in the UK, United States, Canada,Australia & NZ. They are used for motorhome-travels.

Features

A motorhome comprises sleeping accommodation for between 2 and 8 people. Each sleeping place is called a berth. Each berth is either fixed or converts from another part of the motorhome's interior. A kitchenette area will contain cooking equipment. The type of equipment included differs depending on the motorhome make and model, but generally a kitchenette has an oven, grill, hob and sink. More luxury models may also provide a microwave. A separate washroom will be housed in the motorhome. Each washroom will have a flushing cassette toilet, shower and basin. The cassette toilet sometimes swivels to provide extra room and can be accessed from outside the motorhome for easy emptying. More recent motorhomes will have a separate shower cubicle.

A motorhome will also have a cab area with a driver and passenger seat. These seats often swivel to become part of the living space. A dinette area provides a table and seating space typically used for eating meals. A lounge may also be included, consisting of either a u-shaped sofa located in the rear of the motorhome or a side lounge.

Ambiguity with RV and campervan

Motorhomes can be easily confused with American RVs and campervans. Their term Recreational Vehicle also refers to trailers and other types of leisure vehicle which can be towed or driven.

Campervans are typically smaller than motorhomes and are constructed differently. Whilst campervans are focussed with mobility and low cost, motorhomes have more emphasis on comfort. For example, campervans generally lack built-in toilets and showers, or a divide between the living compartment and the cab. Volkswagen Westfalia Campers are typical campervans.
