Travel Blog, Genealogy Family Slideshows, these are all the slideshows and road trips from our Genealogy DVDs created and collected a long while back and also include a section for each person and other older road trips Genealogy - FAMILY TREE stuff plus Travel Blog WELCOME TO MOTORHOME TRAVELS BLOG Intro Genealogy I have finally managed to repair my old DVD player, the only one that will play these c 2010 constructed family DVDs and used some software (honestech) to capture them onto my laptop. Needless to say, all I have done is captured the "chapter" screens as they are quite long. There are 9 DVDs starting back in 1987 the last of which is a "genealogy" one showing various immediate ancestor generations. The full underlying videos and slideshows are available in the Family Tree database, yes, all 44GBs as at Jan 2021. I also show highlighted slideshows by person mainly immediate family, i.e., our descendants, parents and in some cases grandparents and great grandparents, especially if there has been a road trip / sea voyage undertaken by them, where I will have a video with audiobook overlay and / or a SoundCloud audible track. These have been created by my alter ego KeefH Web Designs and I am learning all the time to improve the professionalism of what is created, especially true type voices from about 2020, which replace the older computerised voices of 2011. - MOTORHOME BIG TRIPS | MotorhomeTravel Blog | KeefH Web Designs
Discover our four big motorhome adventures across Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA, with stories, routes and memories that shaped our love of life on the road. Our Four Big Motorhome Adventures Across Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Beyond Keef & Annie's Big Trips Over the Year WELCOME TO MOTORHOME TRAVELS BLOG The Big Trips page gathers together the four major motorhome adventures that shaped the heart of Motorhome Travels. It’s a place where long‑distance journeys, once lived and loved, are now preserved as stories, photos, and memories for anyone curious about life on the road. Each trip represents a different chapter in your travelling life, spanning continents, climates, and stages of familyhood, yet all connected by the same spirit of exploration. The page introduces these journeys as defining milestones — the kind of trips that stay with you long after the miles have passed. From the vast landscapes of Australia to the sweeping wilderness of Canada, from the dramatic coastlines of New Zealand to the open roads of the USA, each adventure is presented as both a travelogue and a personal time capsule. Visitors can dive into detailed diaries, route maps, galleries, and reflections that capture not just where you went, but how it felt to be there. Rather than offering quick snapshots, the page invites readers to settle in and wander through each story at their own pace. It highlights the joy of slow travel, the charm of discovering new places from the comfort of a motorhome, and the way these big trips shaped your understanding of the world. There’s a sense of growth woven through the narrative — the evolution of your travelling style, the changing dynamics of family life, and the deepening appreciation for the freedom of the open road. - Campsite Advice | MotorhomeTravel Blog | KeefH Web Designs
Review & Book Campsites Campsite Advice Type of Campsite Filter Selection Reviews & Book? Campsite Videos Campsite Advice Choosing the right campsite can transform a motorhome trip from a simple stopover into a memorable experience. Below is a curated guide to some of the most reliable, useful and well‑established campsite schemes and stopover networks across the UK and Europe. Each offers something different — from peaceful adults‑only retreats to budget‑friendly overnight halts and full‑facility club sites. ACSI ACSI is a well‑known European campsite discount scheme offering excellent value, especially when touring outside peak season. ACSI sites are plentiful across Europe, with a handful in southern England. The guide, map and membership card are helpful, and in Europe the card can often be left as security instead of your passport. Annual membership is approximately €14, with an additional €4 for the card. Visit their website: HERE Aires (Europe) European Aires are dedicated motorhome stopovers ranging from basic overnight halts to fully serviced areas. They vary in size and quality but are invaluable for flexible touring. A recommended UK supplier of Aires guides is Vicarious Books in Kent — knowledgeable, friendly and well established. Visit their website: HERE Best of British Holiday Parks A premium network of independently owned 5‑star holiday parks across the UK. These sites focus on high‑quality facilities, landscaped grounds and strong customer service. Ideal for motorhomers who want a more luxurious stay. Visit their website: HERE Britstops Britstops provides an excellent network of low‑cost or free stopovers across Great Britain and Ireland, similar in concept to the French Aires system. The annual guide is professionally produced and easy to navigate, dividing Great Britain into nine regions and Ireland into four. Each section includes clear maps, symbols for facilities, suitability for larger motorhomes, host details, and precise directions. It’s a cost‑effective resource (approx. £36 per annum including P&P), and using it just a couple of times easily covers the fee. Britstops has recently been taken over by Holland Hosts. Visit their website: HERE Camping & Caravanning Club (C&CC) Known as “The Friendly Club”, the C&CC offers a wide range of UK sites. We’re not members but have stayed at several and always found them welcoming. Some sites are jointly operated with the Caravan & Motorhome Club. Julia Bradbury is the club’s President. Visit their website: HERE Camping Ireland Camping Ireland highlights fully approved parks that meet strict quality standards, ensuring reliable facilities and welcoming stays across Ireland. Sites are independently inspected and rated, offering trusted accommodation in scenic locations. Expect clean amenities, safe environments and easy access to beaches, countryside, towns and Ireland’s famous Céad Míle Fáilte. Visit their website: HERE Camping Sites in Britain A powerful filter‑based selection tool listing over 7,800 UK campsites - gives you a multi selection mechanism covering all manner of things, such as dogs / campfires / beaches /hookups / hard standing / showers / CL-CS but majors on campsites / caravan parks /motorhome sites / glamping. Here you can answer the age old question on selection "How to Choose the Right Campsite in the UK: A Practical Guide" ? Visit their website: HERE Caravan & Motorhome Club (C&MC) The Caravan & Motorhome Club offers a large network of consistently high‑standard sites across the UK. Their main sites typically cost around £35-45 per night for two adults and a motorhome, while their Certified Locations (CLs) — small, often rural sites with up to five pitches — provide a more budget‑friendly alternative. Members receive a comprehensive site book and map. We’ve stayed at many C&MC sites and CLs over the years and always found them reliable. The club also owns the Alan Rogers guides. Visit their website: HERE To look at all their club sites and certified location sites use these buttons CL vs CS Schemes (Club‑Certified Small Sites) CLs (C&MC), also CS sites (C&CC). Key differences: CL: Certified Location: Caravan & Motorhome Club, motorhomes/caravans only, no tents. CS: Certified Small Sites: Camping & Caravanning Club, tents allowed, broader mix of campers. Both allow up to five pitches, require no full site license, and offer quiet rural stays. Visit their website: HERE Commercial Holiday Parks (General Category) Not a single organisation, but an important selection method. These are larger parks offering pools, entertainment, shops, bars and family‑friendly facilities. They typically cost £25–£50+ per night, depending on season and location. Independent Luxury Touring Parks (Non‑Group) Some parks operate independently but maintain extremely high standards similar to Morris Leisure or Best of British. These often appear in regional tourism awards or specialist guides. Morris Leisure Luxury Campsites Morris Leisure operates a small group of high‑quality campsites, mainly near the Welsh borders. Their loyalty scheme offers one free night for every 12 stamps collected. Prices average around £38 per night — noticeably cheaper than many C&MC sites. We highly recommend them. So far, we’ve stayed at Ludlow (twice), Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury, with plans to visit the remaining sites. Morris Leisure’s touring parks offer premium hardstanding pitches, immaculate heated facilities and beautifully landscaped settings across Shropshire and North Wales. With lakeside views, woodland calm and easy access to historic towns, they deliver consistently high‑quality, relaxing stays. Visit their website: HERE National Trust (NT) Although the National Trust is better known for cottages and heritage stays, they do operate a small number of campsites. We’ve stayed at Houghton Mill and found it charming, with the beautiful surroundings you’d expect from the NT. Visit their website: HERE PitchUp / Campsites.co.uk / UKCampsite.co.uk (Aggregator Platforms) While not “schemes”, these platforms are widely used selection tools offering: verified reviews facility filters price comparison availability calendars They help identify independent sites not part of any club or group. Visit Pitch Up website: HERE Visit Camping.co.uk website: HERE Visit UKcampsites website: HERE Tranquil Parks Tranquil Parks is a collection of “Adult Only” campsites offering peaceful, quiet stays. Some sites overlap with other schemes such as Best of British, but many are unique to the network. We’ve stayed at several and always enjoyed the calm atmosphere. For an example, see our Blog 196 featuring Plough Lane . Visit their website: HERE RoamWorthy Campsite Membership Comparison (Selection Strategy) RoamWorthy’s 2026 guide explains how memberships (C&MC vs C&CC) can save £12–£15 per night, and how CL/CS access is often the biggest benefit. This is useful as a decision‑making method for choosing which club to join. Visit their website: HERE Small Farm Sites (Independent CL/CS‑Style but Non‑Club) Many farms operate small, quiet touring areas similar to CL/CS sites but not under club exemption schemes. These can be found through regional tourism boards, local directories or platforms like PitchUp . They offer peace, space and low prices — often £10–£25 per night. UK Campsite website UKCampsite.co.uk is a long‑running UK camping directory featuring thousands of campsites, caravan parks, CL/CS sites and holiday parks across Britain. Each listing includes facilities, pitch types, prices, photos, user reviews and contact details, making it a reliable research tool for planning trips. The site also offers advanced filters for location, amenities, dog‑friendly options, adults‑only sites and seasonal availability. Alongside the directory, it hosts active forums, gear reviews, campsite recommendations and community tips. UKCampsite remains one of the most comprehensive resources for campers and motorhome users looking for verified, user‑driven campsite information. It also does some French and European sites as well. Visit their website: HERE Wild Camping (Where Legal) A selection method for experienced motorhomers seeking solitude. England: Only legally permitted on parts of Dartmoor (confirmed by the UK Supreme Court, May 2025). Scotland: Allowed under the Land Reform Act 2003, following the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Elsewhere: Requires landowner permission. There is a booklet you can view. We stayed in Tórshavn (the best) , Vestmanna, Eiði, Gjógv, Fuglafjørður, Æðuvík, Kalsoy.
